Old School Hip Hop

Public Group

Description

This group is dedicated to old school B-Boys and Girls who want to discuss Hip Hop prior to the invasion of ”Gangsta Rap”. If you remember, vinyl records, only hearing hip hop on the Red Alert and Mr. Magic shows and going to a party and coming home in one piece then this is the group for you. If you enjoyed my thread ” You know you old school if..” then us old school heads can have our own group and be ”Hater” free

Nah, it just needs a breath of fresh air…and we are trying to do just that on StayChiseled.com. It's a fresh website that covers topics from 'real' hip hop, news, sports, politics, comedy and just real life situations straight from the heart that everyone can relate to in some shape, form or fashion. • @ Rob Walker…….I am about to dub thee, the official preacher of the Old School Hip Hop group well said

  • Yo peeps, keep in mind that when rap first started, the only thing we had to put on the radio was the ”real shit”. now that rap is internationally accepted, you have so much of a variety. unfortunately, since the radio is about a dolla bill, we tend to hear the uninspired artists more than the authentic ones. But that doesnt mean hip hop is dead…you just have to look harder to find the ”good shit”…One Love peeps, your boy Rwalker AKA MR.X

  • @VSU95…..First off this has nothing to with the fact that Im white but, I dont think thats the case at all. I associate the south, even Atl, Miami and Houston as a ”grass roots” style of hip hop tailored to the local culture. For example Miami Bass in the late 80’s, 90’s saw Luke and the 2 live crew become the break out group, Crunk music saw Lil Jon break out to the main stream. When these ”off shoots” of hip hop catch the main streams eye they tend to catapult the current star to the forefront until the novelty wears off. In a time now where hip hop is struggling and stagnate you need to be unique in order to blow up now. People, especially hip hop heads are tired of the same old hum drum nonsense. Just my opinion

  • As far as the south being underrated, it’s really the white people in the executive position on these labels who are in control. It’s a shame we can’t seem to get control of anything we do. That’s who dictates who gets the radio time. Killer Mike and Jay Electronica should be getting more looks though. They are talented.
